Job Requirements

  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position
  • food service manager certification (skilled nursing facilities)
  • associate or bachelor's degree in culinary arts or related field
  • three or more years of culinary and food preparation experience in a related field
  • three or more years of management experience in culinary cooking or hospitality management
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • ability to communicate effectively in English both verbal and written
  • able to work flexible hours as needed
  • able to frequently lift/carry 30 lbs and occasionally 50 lbs
  • able to frequently push/pull up to 30 lbs and occasionally 50 lbs
  • able to bend, twist, stoop, reach at or below the shoulder
  • able to frequently stand or walk and alternate between standing and sitting
  • able to work with ill, disabled, elderly and emotionally upset people
  • able to follow instructions and make independent decisions

Job Qualifications

  • Food Service Manager Certification (Skilled Nursing Facilities)
  • associate or bachelor's degree in culinary arts and/or three or more years of culinary and food preparation experience in a related field
  • three or more years of management experience in culinary cooking or hospitality management
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written
  • strong leadership and independent decision-making skills
  • experience working with elderly or disabled populations

Job Duties

  • Develop, implement and evaluate the Culinary Operations department's daily schedules and processes
  • ensure all culinary personnel follow policy and procedures
  • coordinate and provide hot and cold foods for community events
  • create and execute corrective plans addressing survey inspection results
  • maintain a reference library of menus, recipes, policies, procedures, operation standards and diet manuals
  • ensure food meets presentation standards, quality guidelines and safety regulations
  • comply with purchasing practices and use approved vendors
  • establish food service production workflow to ensure timely meal preparation
  • determine staffing requirements and assign personnel
  • proactively address staffing and hiring needs and manage applicant flow
  • coordinate and schedule training and orientation classes
  • ensure staff participation in training and compliance with federal, state, and company requirements
  • assist in staff development and monitor employee performance
  • ensure dining service work areas and food storage are clean and sanitary
  • enforce safety regulations in use of equipment and handling of hazardous materials
  • recommend equipment and supply needs and place orders
  • maintain safety data sheets and proper labeling
  • manage inventory and replenishment of food and equipment
  • prepare and plan the dining service budget
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned
