Job Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in hospitality sales and catering
  • strong leadership, communication, and guest interaction skills
  • ability to operate within a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • understanding of sales and catering contracts, files, room inventories, and function space capabilities
  • excellent sales, planning, and organizational skills
  • working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • knowledge of software and property management systems such as Delphi and OnQ preferred
  • high school diploma or GED
  • six to twelve months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read, write, and perform mathematical computations
  • ability to effectively communicate with guests using tact and diplomacy
  • ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle or lift objects up to 25-35 pounds
  • availability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Proactively prospect, solicit, qualify, and close new and repeat business opportunities within assigned market segments
  • maintain a current knowledge of menu and service trends and client needs
  • promote the hotel by maintaining high visibility within the community by attending and hosting trade shows, networking, and industry events
  • build, maintain and grow strong account relationships
  • visit and entertain contacts with key accounts regularly
  • prospect for new opportunities and accounts
  • provide timely follow-up to all sales inquiries and customers
  • evaluate business opportunities and understand their impact on hotel GOP
  • understand basic revenue management strategies and principles
  • prepare contracts, confirm signatures, and establish methods of payment
  • manage cut-off dates, monitor room blocks and adjust accordingly with revenue management
  • ensure rooming lists are received and entered by due date
  • update group pick-up in Delphi and ensure groups meet performance expectations for guest room and catering revenues
  • handle BEO and account details for catering groups within assigned market segments
  • communicate key information and details to operations departments for successful execution of groups and events
  • multi-task, prioritize, and possess strong time management skills
  • maintain accurate and organized sales files
  • utilize Delphi effectively and update bookings, accounts, and sales activities accordingly
  • analyze and monitor competition, market trends, demand, and customer needs
  • maintain a positive attitude and friendly manner in all client, guest, and team member interactions
  • provide timely follow-up with clients after groups and events to ensure exceptional experiences
  • work closely with Complex Director of Sales to prepare monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and plans
  • assist in control of function space maximization
  • ensure payment policies and billing procedures are followed consistently
  • contribute to RevPar growth and meet or exceed budgeted room and banquet revenues
  • set a positive example to team members
  • assist in implementing sales culture throughout the hotel
  • interact with all clients, guests, and team members professionally
  • maintain a positive and cooperative work environment
  • assist with sales and reservations training of non-sales staff
  • participate in MOD rotation
  • greet on-site contacts for groups and events
  • recognize and report potential safety hazards
  • understand emergency procedures
  • train and use OnQ and sales systems effectively
  • use sound judgment in decision-making
  • perform other duties as assigned by DOS, GM, or Winwood Hospitality Group
