Job Description
The Department of State Police is a vital government agency dedicated to maintaining public safety and law enforcement across the state. One of its critical divisions, the Air Wing, provides essential aerial support including search and rescue operations, fire suppression missions, surveillance, and the transportation of government officials and prisoners. Job Requirements
- Five or more years of professional experience in aircraft maintenance with at least one year in supervisory or inspector role
- possession of current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant and Inspection Authorization licenses
- FAA mechanics certification for minimum of three years
- factory training in specified aircraft and engines
- ability to work 24/7 in emergency situations
- knowledge of FAA regulations and compliance requirements
- ability to manage a maintenance facility
- strong organizational and communication skills
- ability to assess and prioritize maintenance needs
- bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- commitment to maintaining safety standards and quality assurance
Job Qualifications
- Possess current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) and Inspection Authorization licenses
- FAA mechanics certification in both airframe and powerplant for minimum three years
- factory trained in Airbus EC/H-135 and Cessna C208 aircraft
- trained in Turbomeca Arrius LVL 2 Helicopter Engine and Pratt and Whitney PT-6 engines
- experience with FAA policies and procedures on aircraft maintenance
- knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures
- skilled in management and supervision of aircraft maintenance technicians
- ability to interpret technical aircraft operation documents
- ability to maintain computerized inventory systems
- experience in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft maintenance
Job Duties
- Oversee maintenance of fixed and rotary wing State Police aircraft
- ensure compliance with state and federal aviation maintenance regulations
- manage training and certification of maintenance mechanics
- maintain proper inventory of parts and equipment
- schedule mechanic duties and prioritize maintenance work
- supervise FAA-approved maintenance facility operations
- maintain technical data files and manuals
- inspect and ensure quality assurance of all maintenance work
- report maintenance status and inventory needs to unit commanders and administrative staff
- recommend aircraft replacements and new equipment based on operational needs
- coordinate emergency repair operations and dispatch maintenance personnel as needed
- ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules
- manage contract maintenance decisions
- maintain accurate work records and inspection sheets
- ensure mechanics follow all quality assurance and safety protocols
