Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Ten years of relevant professional or administrative experience
- Minimum three years of supervisory experience
- At least nine years of experience in rail transit operations or management
- Experience in unionized environments
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license in the State of Maryland
- Ability to foster a positive safety culture and enforce safety procedures
- Must refrain from willful safety violations and other reckless behaviors
- Ability to conduct safety risk assessments and mitigate hazards promptly
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Ten years of experience in administrative or professional work
- Three years of experience supervising employees or overseeing operations
- Experience managing in a public or private sector urban rail transit agency or large transit operations
- Knowledge of rail transit program management, service contract compliance, and scheduling software
- Experience working in a unionized setting
- Strong leadership skills in organizational turnaround and program expansion
- Familiarity with transportation and transit trends, initiatives, and projects nationally and locally
Job Duties
- Provide overall leadership for Metro Operations and achieve public transportation objectives
- Develop and implement short- and long-range goals, strategic plans, and business initiatives
- Formulate and recommend operating policies and procedures, including updates to existing policies
- Ensure coordination and cooperation among assigned departments and external agencies
- Participate in committees, task forces, and contract negotiations
- Oversee administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance investigations, and arbitration proceedings
- Maintain accountability for all safety performance measures and compliance standards
- Approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as needed
- Contribute to planning and resource management for rail operations and capital assets
