Job Requirements

  • College or university degree in a related field
  • Seven or more years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • Experience collaborating with faculty and staff in a Tier 1 research university setting for at least five years
  • Minimum three years of staff management experience
  • Knowledge of ordering and shipping systems used by Apple and Dell
  • Ability to manage multiple open shipping orders simultaneously
  • Understanding of IT equipment scrap and recycling processes including data destruction
  • Experience coordinating delivery logistics within a large community
  • Capacity to maintain accurate inventory records

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum seven years of work experience in a related discipline
  • Minimum five years experience collaborating with faculty and staff in a Tier 1 research university setting
  • Minimum three years experience managing staff
  • Experience with ordering and shipping systems, especially involving Apple and Dell computers
  • Ability to track and manage large numbers of open shipping orders simultaneously
  • Knowledge of scrap and recycling processes for IT equipment including data destruction best practices
  • Experience coordinating delivery appointments in a large community
  • Proven ability to track and maintain inventory

Job Duties

  • Oversees the end-to-end life cycle management of assets, equipment, and inventory across key University departments
  • Develops and implements standardized processes for asset delivery, inventory control, and retirement
  • Provides leadership to managers of logistics, receiving, and computer acquisitions
  • Collaborates University-wide to ensure consistent asset and inventory management practices
  • Establishes and manages departmental operating budgets, including financial forecasting
  • Negotiates with suppliers and manages vendor relationships to optimize costs and service quality
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of asset, equipment, and supply inventories
  • Defines, monitors, and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational improvements
  • Assesses staff performance and aligns resources for maximum productivity and project success
  • Identifies and implements process efficiencies to optimize University resources
  • Stays current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to asset management
  • Collaborates with manager regarding building management and maintenance
  • Places and monitors work requests
  • Supervises projects, and serves as liaison to central facilities staff and outside contractors
  • Hires, evaluates, and conducts performance evaluations
  • Plans and assigns work
  • exercises quality and quantity controls
  • Ensures the team maintains shipping and receiving activities and records
  • Resolves related shipping, receiving, and distribution problems
  • Coordinates with vendors and Budget to ensure that quality and pricing of supplies and equipment meet expectations
