Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in hospitality or related field
  • Minimum three years teaching or leadership experience in hospitality education
  • Minimum three years work experience in hospitality industry fields
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated industry knowledge
  • Ability to collaborate with professional organizations
  • Leadership capability in academic settings

Job Qualifications

  • Master's degree in hospitality or related field such as business or education
  • Three years of teaching or leadership experience in hospitality educational programs at the community college or university level
  • Three years of work experience in hospitality fields such as culinary arts, hotel and lodging, or food and beverage management
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with local and national professional organizations
  • Effective communication skills internally and externally
  • Knowledge of the hospitality industry and education's role in preparing students for careers
  • Ability to lead an academic program while fostering teamwork
  • Certification by accrediting agencies in hospitality management is preferred
  • Prior experience as an educational administrator in hospitality programs is preferred
  • Experience in community college settings is preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with division and college administrators, faculty, and staff in multiple academic and service areas is preferred

Job Duties

  • Facilitates student matriculation through admission, pre-registration, retention, graduation, and placement processes
  • Leads coordination, recruitment, selection, and evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty and staff
  • Fosters positive relationships with external stakeholders including local and national professional organizations
  • Provides leadership for curriculum development and evaluation to ensure program vitality and student success
  • Directs fiscal, facilities, and equipment planning and implementation in consultation with faculty and advisory committee
  • Promotes a positive environment that encourages innovation and teamwork
  • Performs other duties as assigned
