Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience in trade compliance
  • at least 7 years specialization in import compliance
  • 5+ years of experience leading people
  • knowledge of import/export regulations
  • hands-on experience with regulatory agreements and documentation such as USMCA and tariffs
  • experience managing multi-country customs programs
  • expertise in customs laws and FTZ programs
  • proven leadership experience
  • strong knowledge of U.S. regulations and trade programs
  • experience with customs audits
  • ability to travel up to 25%
  • master's degree preferred
  • licensed customs broker preferred
  • certifications such as CUSECO or CTCS preferred
  • experience with trade management systems preferred
  • demonstrated cost-saving initiatives preferred
  • experience advising leadership on global trade strategy preferred
  • involvement in government affairs or customs committees preferred

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading people
  • knowledge of regulatory requirements, import/export regulations, and compliance standards relevant to manufacturing
  • hands-on experience with regulatory agreements, filings, and documentation such as USMCA and tariffs
  • experience managing multi-country customs programs
  • expertise in customs laws, tariff classification, valuation, origin determination, and FTZ programs
  • proven leadership experience managing direct reports and influencing across functions
  • strong knowledge of U.S. regulations (CBP, EAR, UFLPA) and trade programs such as USMCA
  • experience with customs audits and inquiries
  • ability to travel up to 25%
  • master's degree in business, law, or a related field preferred
  • licensed customs broker (U.S.) preferred
  • certifications such as CUSECO or CTCS preferred
  • experience with SAP, GTS, Oracle GTM, or other trade management systems preferred
  • demonstrated cost-saving initiatives such as duty drawback, tariff engineering, or automation preferred
  • experience advising leadership on global trade strategy and regulatory risk preferred
  • involvement in government affairs or external customs committees preferred

Job Duties

  • maintain an import compliance system that supports the business across all functions and adapts to changing global regulations
  • lead import compliance strategy in alignment with U.S. Customs and international trade authorities
  • review supply chain plans and changes to mitigate risks related to regulations and tariffs
  • drive cross-functional projects and influence teams to achieve compliance and business outcomes
  • develop and implement trade compliance policies and procedures
  • oversee classification, country of origin, valuation, and other customs processes
  • manage audits and assessments, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
  • provide guidance and training to stakeholders across the business
  • stay current on global trade regulation changes and communicate impacts to leadership
  • collaborate with brokers, regulators, and service providers to maintain compliance and optimize processes
  • brief the Executive Leadership Team on trade compliance risks, opportunities, and performance
  • represent GE Appliances with U.S. Customs, global authorities, and trade associations
  • continuously improve compliance processes to support company strategy
  • mentor and develop team members while building and retaining key talent
  • establish priorities, timelines, and accountability for the compliance team and cross-functional partners
