Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • five or more years culinary experience in the hospitality industry
  • food handlers permit as required by state law and/or company standards
  • valid driver's license
  • must satisfactorily meet company motor vehicle policy standards
  • basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • ability to resolve problems of dissatisfied customers and/or employees
  • may require driving responsibilities using company or personal vehicle

Job Duties

  • Responsibly manages and supervises all Culinary Services staff including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review including input on pay adjustments, hiring and corrective action consistent with company policy
  • meet regularly with residents and family members to confirm that high satisfaction levels are maintained
  • work with the restaurant manager or coordinator to provide high levels of customer service and create a restaurant style dining atmosphere
  • confirm that front of house and back of house staff work closely together to exceed residents and/or guests expectations
  • assist kitchen and restaurant staff with back and front of house operations as needed including ability to work all stations
  • work with Executive Director and front line staff to maintain customer satisfaction and quality enhancement scores
  • delegate tasks to maintain highest levels of cleanliness and quality
  • ensure food is prepared, stored, and served according to standards and local health codes
  • maintain employee satisfaction scores
  • interview and hire culinary staff
  • conduct and participate in monthly department meetings/in-services
  • understand and maintain monthly and annual culinary budgets including documentation of spend on food, supplies, and labor
  • work with staff and residents on recipe and menu development
  • ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment
  • maintain inventory of kitchen supplies
  • ensure purchasing standards and positive vendor relationships
  • plan, prepare and execute Engage Life events, special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • collaborate with Community Sales Director to market the community through culinary events
  • ensure staff understands company expectations and first impression requirements
  • perform other duties as assigned
