Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Five or more years of culinary experience in the hospitality industry
  • Food handlers permit as required by state law or company standards
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Valid driver's license
  • Compliance with company motor vehicle policy standards
  • Ability to resolve problems of dissatisfied customers and employees
  • Strong organization and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Manage and supervise Culinary Services staff including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance reviews, hiring, and corrective actions
  • Meet regularly with residents and family members to maintain high satisfaction levels
  • Collaborate with restaurant manager to provide high levels of customer service and create a restaurant-style dining atmosphere
  • Ensure front and back of house staff work closely to exceed food product expectations
  • Assist kitchen and restaurant staff with operations and work all stations if needed
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and quality enhancement levels through teamwork with Executive Director and staff
  • Delegate tasks to maintain kitchen and restaurant cleanliness and quality
  • Ensure food preparation, storage, and service comply with company and health code standards
  • Maintain employee satisfaction scores
  • Interview and hire culinary department staff
  • Conduct monthly department meetings and in-services
  • Understand and manage monthly and annual culinary department budgets including food, supplies, and labor costs
  • Develop recipes and menus based on resident preferences and budgets
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and tableware
  • Oversee purchasing standards and vendor relationships
  • Plan and execute Engage Life events, special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • Collaborate with Community Sales Director to market the community via road shows and signature items
  • Ensure staff adherence to company expectations and first impression standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
