Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Seven years of management or administrative experience in safety or related field
  • Five years in an administrative role interpreting and implementing policy
  • Knowledge of safety, security laws, and regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in police science, law enforcement, safety or related field or equivalent experience
  • Seven years of progressively responsible management or administrative experience in safety, security, law enforcement or related field
  • Five years in administrative role interpreting and implementing policy
  • Skilled in conflict management and resolution
  • Knowledge of laws, codes, and principles relevant to safety and security in educational settings including OSHA, NFPA, FEMA NIMS
  • Knowledge of security and safety software and administrative systems
  • Ability to manage and secure campus facilities
  • Skilled in relationship-building with community authorities
  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively
  • Detail-oriented and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills verbal, written, electronic
  • Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity

Job Duties

  • Provide overall leadership and management of the Department of Campus Safety including hiring, training, and supervising staff
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate departmental activities ensuring legal compliance
  • Develop, implement, and monitor campus safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Lead the College's emergency preparedness initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and external agencies including LAPD
  • Cultivate inclusive relationships with campus community promoting safety
  • Administer and oversee departmental budget and resource allocation
  • Track and report crime and incident data in compliance with regulations
  • Plan and coordinate staffing and security for special events
  • Support environmental health and safety programs and access control systems
  • Assess and enhance departmental operations to align with best practices
