Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in leading teams directly or indirectly
  • U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Ability to work from Dallas, TX headquarters during business hours
  • Ability to perform duties from a workstation for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to use computer and office productivity tools with speed and accuracy
  • Must maintain well-groomed appearance
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must comply with company attendance standards
  • Willingness to travel extensively with overnight stays
  • Ability to work extended hours including nights and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams directly or indirectly
  • Advanced business acumen in relevant functional area
  • Specialized knowledge in airport operations, airport properties, and airport finance
  • Strong negotiation skills related to real estate
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Ability to interface effectively with all management levels
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Obtain airport properties for Southwest Airlines
  • Negotiate airport use and lease agreements including analysis of lease documents and financial analysis of airport costs
  • Represent Southwest Airlines on airport affairs committees
  • Review airport budgets and rental rates
  • Participate directly in monitoring, controlling, and auditing airport expenses
  • Support the Vice President of Governmental Affairs in coordination of governmental affairs matters
  • Maintain Airport Affairs records and perform analysis as requested
  • Lead Airport Affairs staff
  • Assure responsibility for acquisition of off-airport sites required for company operations
  • Work closely with commercial and operational department leaders to ensure adequate space is available
  • Define potential airport infrastructure limitations which may impede operation
  • Develop strategy to position company to secure desired operation location
  • Support Southwest Operational Leaders by leveraging airport executive relationships to improve flight schedule efficiencies and airport operating systems
  • Perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
