Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum one year prior experience in direct care for individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors
  • Must obtain Registered Behavior Technician certification within 60 days or be qualified Behavior Modification Professional
  • Complete DSP competency-based training and tests within one year or have prior certification
  • CPR, First Aid, and CPI certification required at start of employment and ongoing
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver license, motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance required and maintained
  • Successful completion of post-offer physical exam, tuberculosis test, criminal background check, and other applicable clearances
  • Ability to transport clients safely in personal vehicle or program van
  • Compliance with all Telecare policies and procedures
  • Ability to meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, standing, and safe driving
  • Mandatory participation in monthly supervision and continuing education
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation or G.E.D.
  • One year experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behavior service needs
  • Board certified as a Registered Behavior Technician within 60 days of initial employment or be a Qualified Behavior Modification Professional
  • Completed Direct Support Professional competency-based training and passed related exams within one year of employment or provided proof of prior completion
  • CPR, First Aid, and CPI certification on date of employment or before providing client care and maintain current certification
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs and electronic data collection
  • Skilled in critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and poise
  • Valid driver license and motor vehicle clearance with proof of auto insurance.

Job Duties

  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing applied behavioral analysis (ABA) principles
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team assisting in evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning
  • Assign shift tasks to direct care staff including housecleaning, client care, cooking, and activities
  • Provide training to direct care staff on client needs and job duties
  • Assign staff to work with clients based on individual needs
  • Maintain legal and regulatory compliance and complete necessary reporting
  • Assist clients with self-administered prescribed medications
  • Ensure direct care staff understand medication indications and side effects
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment
  • Collaborate with individual support teams and partnering agencies
  • Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings
  • Maintain daily logs and data reports
  • Provide physical care, training, supervision, and recreation as prescribed in individual program plans
  • Act as an appropriate role model by dressing and behaving in a socially appropriate manner
  • Prepare meals and snacks involving clients in preparation tasks as appropriate
  • Drive clients to medical, dental appointments, and outside activities as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Participate in monthly supervision meetings
  • Transport members in personal vehicle and program van with acceptable driving record.
