Job Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in hospitality, meeting, and event planning, or a related field
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Have proven supervisory experience with effective time, project, and detail management
  • Ability to relate effectively with institutional personnel and the public
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a small team
  • Demonstrated project management experience and capability (PMP certification or similar a plus)
  • Prefer familiarity with project management tools like MS Project, Wrike, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Office, eSpace, Caterease, Asana, Trello
  • Prefer familiarity with event planning and management tools like Cvent
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Lead departmental planning to align with the center's divisional and organizational objectives
  • Strategize and implement diverse events focusing on participant needs and expectations
  • Assist the marketing and sales divisions in advertising and selling events at the Space and Rocket Center
  • Strategize with the food and beverage director to ensure pricing and menu options are relevant and competitive
  • Collaborate with the food and beverage director to ensure event sponsors and guests have a memorable event
  • Collaborate with various departments for seamless internal event execution
  • Ensure targets are met by overseeing event production schedules
  • Track and analyze trends to enhance future event planning and processes
  • Review and approve floor plans and specifications created by managers
  • Serve as the main point of contact for VIP guests visiting the center
  • Plan hospitality for VIP guests and coordinate across the center to ensure guest satisfaction and achievement of the center's visit objectives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure their continued support of the center's mission and initiatives
  • Adhere to organizational policies and applicable laws
  • Instruct, coach, and encourage staff to support the mission and vision of the center
  • Demonstrate good judgment within the supervision of staff
  • Monitor staff performance and offer coaching, counseling, or supervision as required
  • Complete staff evaluations and documentation on time and effectively
  • Serve as an effective role model to staff by demonstrating exemplary work ethic
