Job Requirements

  • Educational minimum and work experience as per USDA professional standards
  • Ability to manage multiple K12 school foodservice accounts
  • Proven leadership experience in managing diverse teams
  • Knowledge of compliance with USDA regulations and local, state, federal policies
  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting and forecasting
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and POS software
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Educational minimum and work experience per USDA Professional Standards for the accounts
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years management experience preferably in foodservice, hospitality management, plant operations management, environmental services, laundry, or other support services area
  • Proven track record of foodservice management success, ideally in K12
  • Strong customer service, business and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, communication skills, multi-tasking, prioritization, and organization
  • Champions inclusion mindset, proactive, positive, professional, and resilient
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and POS software
  • B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field preferred
  • Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience desirable
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate on various levels including management, client, customer, and associate levels
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and Internet
  • ServSafe Certified

Job Duties

  • Leads, manages, and inspires a diverse team at large or multiple accounts with the goal of providing top-notch service to clients, students, and the community
  • Drives and develops self and team towards building strong relationships with clients and achievement of key performance indicators such as profitability, safety, and engagement
  • May serve on district leadership team and participate in ongoing conversations with peers to share best practices, mitigate risks, champion diversity, and build community
  • Weighs decisions for risk/reward and short/long-term implications while gathering input from team and partners
  • Fosters a culture of transparency, understanding, education, safety, and accountability
  • Serves as representative and brand ambassador of the Chartwells team within districts and the community, attending key client and community events
  • Ensures client needs are met or exceeded, retains accounts, finds cross-sell opportunities, and assists in rebid process
  • Supports functional areas including safety, marketing, nutrition, and culinary
  • Ensures adherence to local, state, federal and company policies, and conducts unit audits for food storage and sanitation
  • Maintains compliance with USDA regulations and meal/retail program reporting
  • Champions development within accounts, conducts performance evaluations, and succession planning
  • Owns financial results, ensuring accuracy in reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Ensures consistent and fair administration of all policies and procedures
