Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership in hotel, catering, retail coffee bar, or college dining hall
  • Significant cooking experience in large dining operations
  • Proven advanced cooking techniques
  • Experience with high-volume short order cookery
  • Knowledge of sauces, soups, vegetables, baked goods, entrees
  • Excellent communication and supervisory skills
  • Ability to write reports and develop event plans
  • Problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Knowledge of kitchen production planning
  • Understanding of safety and sanitation regulations

Job Duties

  • Supervises full-time and student production staff
  • Assists in recruitment and performance management
  • Develops staff training techniques
  • Leads and oversees food preparation and presentation
  • Trains student staff and manages daily assignments
  • Maintains positive staff relationships
  • Ensures food quality and presentation
  • Orders and inventories supplies
  • Solves operational problems
  • Interacts with customers
  • Ensures food safety and sanitation compliance
  • Maintains kitchen safety and cleanliness
  • Enforces security practices
  • Drives campus vehicles for duties
  • Supports cross-training and equipment cleaning
  • Assists management with additional duties
