Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in commercial or institutional food service
  • Two years of lead or supervisory experience
  • Must have or obtain a valid Maryland driver’s license with less than 5 points
  • Must obtain Prince George’s County Food Service Manager Certification, TIPS (or equivalent), and Maryland Fire Marshall crowd management certification within 90 days of hire
  • Must pass DOT physical and drug test before hire and maintain DOT certification with random drug testing
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work variable schedules including weekends, nights, evenings, and holidays
  • Must be able to work under extreme weather conditions
  • Must comply with University of Maryland’s non-smoking policy

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years progressively responsible experience in commercial or institutional food service
  • Two years experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • Thorough knowledge of large scale food preparation and service
  • Knowledge of food safety, preservation, and sanitation regulations
  • Skill in using food service equipment
  • Ability to supervise and instruct personnel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain operational records and reports

Job Duties

  • Provide assistance in planning and coordination of food service operations
  • Perform food preparation and presentation duties
  • Manage merchandising and display of food items
  • Calculate food and labor costs accurately
  • Schedule employees and manage employee relations
  • Ensure adherence to quality, cost efficiency, and food safety standards
  • Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in food service areas
