Job Requirements
- Previous experience in scratch cooking or food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting
- knowledge of food safety standards and dietary needs of older adults
- ability to follow recipes and adjust meals for dietary restrictions
- strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- ability to work well in a team and a positive attitude
- excellent communication skills
- ability to lift, bend, and carry up to 50 lbs as required
Job Qualifications
- One year geriatric long-term care or hospital cooking, scratch cooking experience required
- high school diploma or equivalent
- certification in food safety, sanitation, ServeSave, or culinary arts is a plus
- experience with large-scale meal preparation and catering
- knowledge of specialized diets such as low-sodium, mechanically altered, diabetic, or therapeutic diets
- ability to be accurate, concise, and detail-oriented
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to set recipes and dietary guidelines
- ensure food is prepared and served on time with attention to presentation and quality
- follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times
- work closely with the dietary team to accommodate residents' special dietary needs and preferences
- assist with meal planning and inventory management
- maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including regular cleaning and sanitizing
- communicate effectively with team members, residents, and management
