Job Requirements

  • previous experience in scratch cooking or food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting
  • knowledge of food safety standards and dietary needs of older adults
  • ability to follow recipes and adjust meals for dietary restrictions
  • strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • ability to work well in a team and a positive attitude
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to lift, bend, and carry up to 50 lbs as required

Job Qualifications

  • 1 year geriatric long-term care or hospital cooking experience
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • certification in food safety, sanitation, ServeSafe, or culinary arts is a plus
  • experience with large-scale meal preparation and catering
  • knowledge of specialized diets such as low-sodium, mechanically altered, diabetic, or therapeutic diets
  • ability to be accurate, concise, and detail-oriented

Job Duties

  • prepare and cook meals according to set recipes and dietary guidelines
  • ensure food is prepared and served on time with attention to presentation and quality
  • follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times
  • work closely with the dietary team to accommodate residents' special dietary needs and preferences
  • assist with meal planning and inventory management
  • maintain a clean and organized kitchen including regular cleaning and sanitizing
  • communicate effectively with team members, residents, and management
