Job Requirements

  • Education relevant to culinary arts or food service management preferred
  • Prior experience in food service management required
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and regulations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to train and mentor staff
  • Customer service oriented
  • Experience managing budgets and schedules

  • Culinary degree desired
  • Experience working in Senior Living is a plus
  • Food and beverage manager experience

Job Duties

  • Manages food supplies and personnel to ensure that operations for areas of responsibility are performed efficiently within established budget and in compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations and Five Star policies, procedures and quality standards
  • Manage, schedule, evaluate and direct the kitchen staff
  • Ensure a sanitary dining room complying with all health and safety codes, licensing regulations and policies and procedures regarding the proper handling and serving of food
  • Supervise and direct the cleaning of all dining and food services
  • Develop and implement training, policies, and processes to ensure that kitchen staff members are properly groomed, dressed and using proper etiquette and manners while waiting tables courteously
  • Survey residents to determine their satisfaction levels with the service provided and make corrections as necessary
  • Assist Servers, Cooks, and other Dining Services associates in their job duties and assume their activities when needed
