Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food service management, culinary arts, or equivalent training
  • Minimum four years supervisory experience in hospitality or fine dining
  • At least five years volume cooking experience or equivalent hospitality experience
  • Current ServSafe certification
  • Proven knowledge of nutrition and modified diets
  • Ability to use production sheets, standardized recipes, and sanitation forms
  • Experience managing food and labor budgets
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities
  • Commitment to upholding food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in food service management, culinary degree, or equivalent training
  • Four to five years supervisory experience in hospitality or fine dining industries
  • Minimum five years volume cooking experience or equivalent hospitality experience in communities with an Executive Chef
  • Current ServSafe certification
  • Ability to use production sheets, standardized recipes, temperature and sanitation logs
  • Basic knowledge of nutrition and modified diets
  • Proven ability to manage food and labor budgets and meet targets
  • Proficient in basic computer skills and ability to learn new applications
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours

Job Duties

  • Delivers consistent high-quality food and hospitality service by following Sunrise recipes, menus, and programs
  • Posts and displays weekly and daily menus in accordance with Sunrise standards
  • Completes and utilizes production sheets to control food quality and portions
  • Ensures adherence to modified diets, correct portioning of foods, and proper serving methods
  • Prepares and serves meals on time and at the correct temperatures
  • Actively trains on and participates in front-of-the-house operations to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Ensures all food in Bistro and common areas is fresh, covered, labeled, and dated
  • Supports all special events with emphasis on marketing events
  • Serves minimum one meal per week in Reminiscence and meets with the Reminiscence Coordinator to review service and preparation needs
  • Partners with Wellness team and dietitian to understand and deliver individual resident nutritional needs
  • Participates in monthly Resident Council and food committee meetings
  • Visits with residents during meals for feedback on menu
  • Coordinates staffing in dining room with ALC before meals
  • Adheres to established product order guide(s) and vendor programs
  • Ensures compliance with HACCP and health regulations
  • Maintains adequate inventory of food and emergency supplies
  • Partners with leadership for compliance with occupational health and safety and risk management programs
  • Enforces procedures such as PPE, fire extinguishers, MSDS, and Lockout Tagout
  • Ensures compliance with health department regulations and Sunrise standards
  • Practices safe food handling to prevent contamination
  • Maintains a clean, organized kitchen environment
  • Keeps accurate food production and sanitation records
  • Partners with Maintenance Coordinator for equipment repairs
  • Manages department budget including food, labor, and expenses
  • Reviews financial statements and implements corrective actions
  • Processes monthly expenses and budget data
  • Coordinates staff economies and cross training
  • Conducts regular inventories
  • Provides overall department management including recruiting, hiring, training, and coaching
  • Leads daily and monthly team meetings and trainings
  • Ensures compliance with state/provincial regulations
  • Completes staffing and scheduling per budget guidelines
  • Reviews payroll reports for accuracy
  • Conducts performance appraisals
  • Holds team accountable with documentation
  • Attends required meetings such as Stand Up, Department Head, Interdisciplinary Team, Town Hall
  • Maintains compliance in all required trainings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Delegates assignments effectively
  • Communicates clearly and facilitates small group presentations
  • Demonstrates good organizational, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
