Job Requirements

  • Any combination of education and training that provides required knowledge, skills, and ability
  • preferred three years of paid bakery production experience in a volume bakery environment
  • ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in Basic English
  • ability to perform simple arithmetic related to baking
  • ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • work well without continuous supervision
  • wear uniform and safety equipment as required
  • ability to learn safe food handling and production methods
  • good personal hygiene
  • willingness and ability to work overtime in emergencies
  • availability to work shifts from 12 PM to 8:30 PM Sunday through Friday
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand and perform repetitive motions for long periods
  • adherence to on-campus work policy without remote work options

Job Duties

  • Use from-scratch and pre-mix baking techniques to prepare breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, pies, cakes, cookies, pastries, and other baked goods
  • measure ingredients accurately and regulate oven settings to ensure proper baking
  • decorate cakes, cookies, pastries, and desserts
  • check production records and requisition supplies as needed
  • direct and coordinate baking assistants when applicable
  • maintain cleanliness of work area
  • prepare baked goods for catering events and ensure quality and freshness
  • stock and clean dessert bar and pastry service areas
  • set-up and maintain food lines and steam tables
  • participate in staff meetings and training
  • follow health and safety guidelines
  • notify manager on safety or supply issues
  • work overtime during special college events and emergencies
  • perform additional duties as assigned
