Job Requirements
- Must be able to operate mixers, stoves, microwaves, blending equipment, coffee makers, ovens occasionally, and slicer
- Must be proficient with sharp cooking utensils such as knives
- Must have ability to understand directions
- Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language
- Must be able to multi-task and work with a high degree of flexibility
- Special care or dementia care employees will have additional training in care and treatment of dementia residents
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work with dietary staff, residents, families and other community staff
- Must adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or general education degree preferred
- Six months to one year related experience preferred
- Ability to learn basic computer applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with dietary staff, residents, families and community staff
- Ability to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
Job Duties
- Assist cook as needed
- Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator
- Prepare nourishments according to community procedures
- Execute sanitation processes including washing tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping floors, taking trash to dumpster, washing dishes and silverware, and cleaning equipment and kitchen areas
- Assist with meal service duties such as setting dining room tables, working on meal tray serving line, serving meal trays to residents, checking meal trays for accuracy, clearing tables, pushing food carts, and communicating with residents
- Follow all safety and security guidelines and protocols for residents
- Maintain effective communication with residents and their families
- Provide care and services following dementia care protocols
- Participate in educational and training activities
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed
