Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months to one year related experience preferred
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Must have good communication skills
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment including mixers, stoves, microwaves, ovens, slicers
- Ability to handle sharp cooking utensils safely
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Ability to multi-task and work flexible hours
- Commitment to follow safety and sanitation procedures
- Willingness to participate in additional training for dementia care if applicable
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
- Must adhere to employee handbook policies
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Six months to one year related experience preferred
- Ability to learn basic computer applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate mixers, stoves, microwaves, blending equipment, coffee makers, ovens (occasionally), and slicers
- Ability to proficiently use sharp cooking utensils such as knives
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language
- Ability to multi-task and work with a high degree of flexibility
- Ability to work with dietary staff, residents, families, and other community staff
- Willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures
Job Duties
- Assists cook as needed
- Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator
- Prepares nourishments according to community procedures
- Executes the sanitation process by washing tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, washing dishes and silverware, cleaning equipment and kitchen areas, maintaining clean work spaces
- Assists with meal service duties including setting tables, serving meal trays, checking tray accuracy, clearing tables, pushing food carts, communicating with residents and aiding clean-up
- Follows all safety and security guidelines and protocols for residents
- Maintains effective communication with residents and families
- Provides care with appropriate dementia care protocols
- Participates in educational and training activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
