Job Requirements

  • Must be high school graduate or GED
  • must have six months to one year related experience
  • must be able to operate mixers, stoves, microwaves, blending equipment, coffee makers, ovens occasionally, slicers
  • must be proficient with sharp cooking utensils
  • must be able to understand directions
  • must be able to read, write, understand and speak English
  • must be able to multitask and work flexibly
  • must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • must be able to work with dietary staff, residents, families, and community staff
  • must adhere to employee handbook
  • special or dementia care requires additional training

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED preferred

  • ability to learn basic computer applications
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to follow directions and read, write, understand and speak English
  • ability to multitask and work with flexibility
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment including mixers, stoves, microwaves, ovens, slicers
  • proficiency in using sharp cooking utensils
  • ability to adhere to company handbook and policies

Job Duties

  • Assist cook as needed
  • carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator
  • prepare nourishments according to community procedures
  • execute sanitation process by washing tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping floors, taking trash to dumpster, washing and putting away dishes and silverware, cleaning equipment and kitchen as assigned, maintaining clean work areas
  • assist with meal service duties including setting tables, working on meal tray serving line, serving trays to residents, checking meal tray accuracy, clearing tables, pushing food carts, communicating with residents, assisting with clean-up
  • follow safety and security guidelines
  • maintain effective communication with residents and families
  • provide care with dementia protocols
  • participate in educational and training activities
  • perform other duties as assigned
