Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Current Food Handler’s Permit
- One year of food service experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow written instructions and safety practices
- Ability to work within standard policies and procedures
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Capable of handling multiple tasks
- Ability to react calmly in emergencies
- Maintain a well-groomed appearance
- Adhere to dress code and uniform requirements
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk and perform physical activities required for job
- Adequate sight and hearing to meet job responsibilities
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Current Food Handler’s Permit
- Training in Servsafe is beneficial
- One year of food service experience preferred including serving, waiting tables, cleaning, and kitchen sanitation protocols
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and safety practices
- Dependable, detail oriented, organized, and good follow through
- Cordial and congenial with residents
- Ability to work with limited direct supervision
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks and functions
- Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
- Patience and compassion for senior adults
- Considerate of residents’ comfort, safety, security and belongings
- Ability to set and establish priorities
- Efficient time management
- Maintain neat and orderly work area
- Well-groomed appearance that complies with organizational and State food code standards
- Adherence to dress code and kitchen uniform requirements
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
- Ability to work well with employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, health care professionals and the community
Job Duties
- Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
- Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
- Bus and reset tables as needed
- Prepare salad bar items for lunch including filling salad bar with ice and setting up plates and bowls
- Prepare and stage desserts
- Perform light food preparation for special events
- Assist in setting up meetings or other special events including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea etc
- Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal and state regulations, and Senior Living and Healthcare requirements
- Maintain cleanliness of prep items
- Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled or needed
- Open and close dining rooms as needed
