Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current food handler's permit
  • preferably one year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation
  • ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing
  • able to follow safety practices and written instructions
  • able to work within policy and procedures with limited supervision
  • capable of handling various tasks simultaneously
  • calm in emergencies
  • patient and compassionate towards senior adults
  • able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling/pushing, and long periods of walking and/or standing
  • ability to maintain a neat and orderly workspace
  • comply with dress code and uniform requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current food handler's permit
  • Servsafe training beneficial
  • one year of food service experience preferred including serving/waiting tables, cleaning, kitchen sanitation, and basic food/meal prep
  • effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • ability to understand and follow written instructions and safety practices
  • cordial and congenial with residents
  • dependable, detail oriented, organized, and good follow through
  • able to work within standard policies and procedures with limited supervision
  • ability to handle multiple tasks and functions
  • calm reaction in emergency situations
  • patient and compassionate with senior adults

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
  • bus and reset tables as needed
  • prepare salad bar items for lunch including filling salad bar with ice, gathering plates and bowls, and setting up soup kettles
  • prepare and stage desserts
  • assist in light food preparation for special events
  • assist in setting up meetings and special events including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea, etc.
  • follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and senior living/healthcare requirements
  • maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • perform cleaning duties as scheduled or needed
  • open and close dining rooms as needed
