Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current food handler's permit
  • One year of food service experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions
  • Must be cordial and congenial with residents
  • Must be dependable and detail oriented
  • Must be organized and have good follow through
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures with limited supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and remain calm in emergencies
  • Patience and compassion for senior adults
  • Consideration for resident comfort, safety, security and belongings
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Neat and orderly work habits
  • Compliance with dress code and appearance standards
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to work well with diverse individuals
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling or pushing
  • Ability to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel or crouch as needed
  • Adequate sight and hearing to perform job duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current food handler's permit
  • Training in Servsafe is beneficial
  • Desired one year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, basic food/meal prep
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written, English)
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices
  • Cordial and congenial with residents
  • Dependable, detail oriented, organized, good follow through
  • Ability to work within standard policy and procedures and with limited direct supervision
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks and functions
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
  • Ability to show patience and compassion to senior adults
  • Considerate of resident's comfort, safety, security and belongings
  • Ability to set and establish priorities
  • Manages time efficiently
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner
  • Maintains well-groomed appearance complying with organizational and state food code standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
  • Ability to work well with all persons including employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, healthcare professionals, and community

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
  • Bus and reset tables as needed
  • Prepare salad bar items for lunch including filling salad bar with ice and setting for service, gathering plates and bowls as necessary
  • Prepare and stage desserts
  • Provide light food prep for special events
  • Assist in setting up meetings or other special events including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea, etc.
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and Senior Living/Healthcare requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
  • Open and close dining rooms as needed
