Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Current Food Handler's Permit
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to read and follow safety instructions
- Must be dependable and organized
- Ability to work independently within policy and procedures
- Able to handle multiple tasks calmly
- Physical ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- Able to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel or crouch
- Adequate sight and hearing
- Must demonstrate patience and compassion towards seniors
- Must maintain neat appearance and adhere to uniform requirements
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules and sanitation guidelines
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Current Food Handler's Permit
- Servsafe training is beneficial
- One year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, basic food/meal prep preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Cordial and congenial with residents
- Dependable, detail oriented, organized
- Ability to work within standard policy and procedures with limited supervision
- Ability to handle variety of tasks
- Calm reaction in emergency situations
- Patience and compassion towards senior adults
- Considerate of resident comfort, safety, security and belongings
- Prioritization and time management skills
- Maintains neat and orderly work area
- Maintains a well-groomed appearance compliant with food code standards
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
- Ability to work positively with employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, healthcare professionals, and community
Job Duties
- Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
- Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
- Bus and reset tables as needed
- Prepare salad bar items for lunch, including filling salad bar with ice and setting for service
- Gather plates and bowls as necessary for salad bar and soup kettles
- Prepare and stage desserts
- Light food prep for special events
- Assist in setting up meetings or other special events, including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea, etc
- Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal / state regulations, and Senior Living / Healthcare requirements
- Maintain cleanliness of prep items
- Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
- Open and close dining rooms as needed
