The Dining Server position plays a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of service expected at this restaurant. As a Dining Server, you will be the frontline representative of the restaurant, directly interacting with guests to provide an enjoyable and seamless dining experience. The server is expected to possess some basic cooking knowledge to better understand menu items and effectively communicate with both guests and kitchen staff.

Responsibilities include preparing tables, presenting menus, and guiding customers through their choices while suggesting dishes and assisting with beverage selections. You will be in charge of ensuring tables are properly set, delivering food and drinks promptly, and maintaining an inviting dining atmosphere. Additional tasks include preparing mixed drinks and opening wine tableside, processing payments with accuracy, and performing light cleaning duties as directed. Flexibility is key, as servers may be called upon to support other staff or assist with special events.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, some prior experience in dining service, and be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Certifications such as Food Handler Certification and Alcohol Server Certification are required. The position demands physical stamina to walk and stand for long periods and occasionally lift moderate weights. The work environment varies, with both indoor and outdoor settings, and schedules may include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as needed.

Job Duties

  • Prepares the tables laying out napkins and utensils making sure the condiments are refilled performing all other preparation tasks
  • Staying updated on current menu choices specialties and menu deviations knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items
  • Handle the table bookings direct customers to their tables presenting menus suggesting dishes assisting in drink selection informing customers about food preparation details communicating specific customer needs to the cooks
  • Maintaining proper dining experience delivering items fulfilling customer needs offering desserts and drinks removing courses replenishing utensils refilling glasses
  • Prepare mixed drinks for service to your customers table
  • Properly open and pour wine at the tableside
  • Obtaining revenues issuing receipts accepting payments returning the change
  • Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor
  • Filling in for absent staff as needed
  • Assisting with special events as needed
  • Greet all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  • Understands and can communicate products and services available at the Golf Course or resort
  • Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills
