Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current food handler's permit
- Preferred one year of food service experience including serving, waiting tables, cleaning, and kitchen sanitation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to follow written instructions and safety practices
- Dependability and organization
- Ability to work under limited supervision
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
- Patience and compassion toward senior adults
- Compliance with dress code and food safety standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current food handler's permit
- Training in ServSafe is beneficial
- One year of food service experience preferred including serving, waiting tables, cleaning, kitchen sanitation protocols, and basic food or meal preparation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Cordial and congenial with senior residents
- Dependable, detail oriented, organized with good follow through
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and functions
- Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
- Patience and compassion for senior adults
- Considerate of residents' comfort, safety, security, and belongings
- Ability to set and establish priorities
- Efficient time management
- Maintains neat and orderly work area
- Complies with dress code and kitchen uniform requirements
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation, and serving principles
- Ability to work collaboratively with employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, healthcare professionals, and the community
Job Duties
- Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
- Serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
- Bus and reset tables as needed
- Prepare salad bar items for lunch, fill salad bar with ice, and gather plates and bowls as necessary for salad bar and soup kettles
- Prepare and stage desserts
- Light food prep for special events
- Assist in setting up meetings or other special events including delivery of snacks, coffee, and tea
- Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal and state regulations, and senior living and healthcare requirements
- Maintain cleanliness of prep items
- Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
- Open and close dining rooms as needed
