Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit required
  • One year of food service experience preferred
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to follow written instructions and safety practices
  • Ability to work within established policies with limited supervision
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, pulling/pushing, standing or walking for long periods
  • Adequate sight and hearing to perform duties
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and compassion to senior adults
  • Maintain compliance with dress code and kitchen uniform requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Training in Servsafe is beneficial
  • One year of food service experience preferred including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, and basic food/meal preparation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices
  • Cordial and congenial demeanor with residents
  • Dependable, detail oriented, organized, and good follow through
  • Ability to work within standard policy and procedures and with limited direct supervision
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks and functions
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
  • Ability to show patience and compassion to senior adults
  • Considerate of resident's comfort, safety, security and belongings
  • Demonstrated ability to set and establish priorities
  • Efficient time management
  • Ability to maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Maintains well-groomed appearance in compliance with organizational and state food code standards
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
  • Ability to work with all persons including employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, healthcare professionals, and the community

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • Serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
  • Bus and reset tables as needed
  • Prepare salad bar items for lunch, including filling with ice and gathering necessary plates and bowls
  • Prepare and stage desserts
  • Assist in light food prep for special events
  • Assist in setting up meetings or other special events, including delivery of snacks, coffee, and tea
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal and state regulations, and senior living/healthcare requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled or needed
  • Open and close dining rooms as needed
