Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • current food handler's permit
  • preferred one year of food service experience
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • must be able to read and understand written instructions
  • must follow safety practices
  • ability to work with limited supervision
  • physically able to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent standing and walking
  • adherence to dress code and kitchen uniform requirements
  • must be dependable and detail oriented
  • must demonstrate patience and compassion towards senior adults
  • able to handle emergency situations calmly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • current food handler's permit
  • training in ServSafe is beneficial
  • one year of food service experience preferred, including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, basic food/meal preparation
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to read and follow written instructions and safety practices
  • cordial and congenial with residents
  • dependable, detail oriented, organized and good follow through
  • ability to work within standard policy and procedures and with limited direct supervision
  • ability to handle a variety of tasks and functions
  • calm reaction in emergency situations
  • patience and compassion for senior adults
  • consideration of resident's comfort, safety, security and belongings

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
  • bus and reset tables as needed
  • prepare salad bar items for lunch including filling salad bar with ice and setting for service
  • prepare and stage desserts
  • light food prep for special events
  • assist in setting up meetings or other special events including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea, etc.
  • follow all sanitation guidelines, federal and state regulations, and senior living and healthcare requirements
  • maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
  • open and close dining rooms as needed
