Job Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

- Must be able to relate to ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and agitated residents
- Ability to assist in evacuation during emergencies

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in food service or senior living environment preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with elderly residents and team members
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to policies
- Basic understanding of dietary needs and menu accommodations
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
Job Duties
- Provide meals and beverages to residents in the dining room
- Responsible for set-up and clean-up of the dining room for meal service and other prep and closing duties
- Take attendance at meals if assigned
- Offer residents beverages prior to meal including ice water, juice of choice, milk, or other beverages as desired
- Ensure appropriate condiments are available for current meal
- Ensure the dining room is prepared for meal service
- Participate in pre-service meeting and tasting to understand the meals being served
- Be knowledgeable of menu items including daily specials and special diet accommodations
- Verify food order is correct prior to serving resident meal
- Serve resident meal in courses as often as possible
- Ensure resident satisfaction with meal presentation and offer alternatives if desired
- Inform kitchen of any resident concerns regarding meal
- Remain available during meal service for assistance
- Notify medical staff immediately on any medical emergency or change in eating habits
- Work closely with Food and Beverage Director, Dining Room Supervisor, Cooks, dining staff, and nursing staff
- Follow community policies on safety and food sanitation
- Wear appropriate uniform and nametag and adhere to hygiene standards
- Clean up vases, change tablecloths if necessary, wipe down chairs and chair legs
- Lift a 25-pound tray overhead
- Keep dining room floor clean and vacuum between meals
- Maintain a positive, welcoming, and accommodating attitude towards residents
- Perform other duties as assigned by Food and Beverage Director, Dining Room Manager, and Executive Director
