Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit required
  • One year of food service experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow safety practices and written instructions
  • Dependable and detail oriented
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to handle physical requirements including lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent stooping, bending, reaching, pulling/pushing, standing or walking for extended periods
  • Ability to react calmly in emergencies
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance and adhere to uniform and dress code standards
  • Demonstrate patience and compassion toward senior adults
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work well with others including residents, staff, families, and vendors

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Training in Servsafe beneficial
  • One year of food service experience preferred including serving/waiting tables, cleaning, kitchen sanitation protocols, and basic food/meal prep
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Cordial and congenial with residents
  • Dependable and detail oriented
  • Ability to work within standard policy and procedures with limited supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
  • Ability to maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Ability to adhere to dress code and kitchen uniform requirements
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks and functions
  • Calm reaction in emergency situations
  • Patience and compassion for senior adults
  • Ability to work with diverse groups including employees, residents, families, vendors and community members

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
  • Bus and reset tables as needed
  • Prepare salad bar items for lunch and fill salad bar with ice, including gathering plates and bowls as necessary for salad bar and soup kettles
  • Prepare and stage desserts
  • Provide light food prep for special events
  • Assist in setting up meetings and other special events, including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea, etc.
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and Senior Living/Healthcare requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
  • Open and close dining rooms as needed
