Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • previous experience in dietary or food service preferred
  • ability to supervise and manage staff
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to communicate effectively with residents and team

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstration of core values including love, kindness, honesty, goodness, fairness, and respect
  • hold applicable license or certification such as Dietician, ADA, Diet Technician, chef, or dietary manager meeting state requirements
  • minimum high school diploma
  • experience in dietary department of health care facility or restaurant preferred
  • ability to read, write, and use mathematics and measurement units
  • knowledge of menus, recipes, food purchasing, preparation, and storage
  • ability to supervise and manage
  • knowledge of community policies, procedures, and job descriptions
  • knowledge of ADA, state regulations, infection control, health department, and OSHA standards
  • minimum three years' experience in senior living preferred
  • passion for working with seniors
  • previous experience managing an Assisted Living community preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise food service and assist as necessary
  • be present in dining rooms for full meal service
  • assist and coordinate special functions and corporate meeting food service
  • attend daily manager stand-up meetings
  • maintain high sanitation standards
  • oversee bistro areas including food presentation, cleanliness, and supplies
  • order necessary supplies such as tablecloths, napkins, and silverware
  • ensure maintenance of beverage equipment in dining rooms and bistros
  • maintain control of labor costs
  • schedule dining service employees
  • visit residents and collect information on food preferences
  • maintain records such as meal census, diets served, and weekly staffing patterns
  • hire, provide orientation, training, evaluation, and supervision of dietary staff within budget
  • ensure wait staff know daily specials and preparation
  • review resident diet information and care plans and discuss with relevant parties to make changes
  • supervise cleaning procedures to maintain safe and sanitary conditions
  • collaborate with other departments
  • establish practice of serving hot food hot and cold food cold
  • instruct new residents about meal times and coffee availability
  • participate in safety meetings including infection control and safety committees
  • cover shifts as necessary
  • perform other duties as assigned by Executive Chef or Executive Director
