Job Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Prefer six months experience working in a food and beverage environment
- Able to safely operate standard household equipment such as dishwasher, iron, vacuum, washer and dryer
- Able to operate standard office equipment
- Knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care theory and practice
- Able to work with seniors and patiently interact with cognitively impaired individuals
- Able to be flexible, adapt and respond to change, make decisions under stress and prioritize tasks and projects
- Able to process information and apply common sense to follow written or oral instructions
- Able to analyze, solve and respond to problems or concerns
- Able to read, write and speak English and interact effectively with employees, supervisors, physicians, health care professionals, residents and families
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
- Able to obtain and maintain valid Food Handler's certification as needed
- Be mobile and able to perform physical requirements of the job
- Good physical health verified by health screening including chest x-ray or intradermal test within 6 months prior or 7 days after employment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent

- Ability to interact patiently with cognitively impaired individuals
- Effective communication skills in English
- Motivation to work independently
- Ability to obtain and maintain valid Food Handler's certification
- Basic knowledge of operating household and office equipment
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to adapt to change and prioritize tasks
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
Job Duties
- Serve meals to residents, family members and visitors in a professional, dignified, efficient and courteous manner
- Bring, serve, prepare and refill beverages including water, coffee, soda, wine, beer and cocktails in appropriate glasses
- Open and serve wine and beer as applicable
- Stock bar with wine, beer, liquor, mixers and garnishes and submit product requests to Executive Chef
- Accurately and professionally take food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS
- Properly input to-go, take-out and employee meal orders
- Verify food matches orders including special requests and menu substitutions
- Assist residents with menu selections and explain preparation details
- Ensure plates are presentable before serving and use trays and tray stands appropriately
- Follow proper serving techniques and etiquette
- Set up dining room tables and server stations with all necessary items
- Bus tables, clean and reset tables, sweep, vacuum and maintain cleanliness
- Maintain and organize the beverage station
- Wash dishes, pots and pans as needed
- Deliver meals to resident rooms when required
- Respond to resident concerns professionally
- Participate in daily departmental meetings
- Maintain a safe and secure environment and report hazards
- Comply with infection control procedures and use Universal Precautions
- Communicate effectively with residents, families and staff
- Attend scheduled trainings and maintain certifications
- Flexibly work holidays, evenings and weekends
- Support teamwork and community marketing efforts
- Report any observed resident condition changes
- Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Chef
