Job Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer six months experience in food and beverage service
  • Able to safely operate household equipment such as dishwasher, iron, vacuum, washer, dryer
  • Able to operate standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn assisted living and dementia care
  • Ability to work with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals patiently
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • English proficiency in speaking, reading and writing
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Food Handler's certification
  • Physically fit and able to perform job duties
  • Health screening including chest x-ray or intradermal test as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer six months experience working in a food and beverage environment
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care principles
  • Able to safely operate household and office equipment
  • Able to work patiently with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
  • Able to adapt to change, make decisions under stress, prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Able to obtain and maintain valid Food Handler's certification
  • Physically able to meet job requirements including passing health screening
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Committed to maintaining attendance and punctuality standards
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends.

Job Duties

  • Serve meals to residents, family members and visitors in a professional, dignified, efficient and courteous manner
  • Bring, serve, prepare and refill beverages, including water, coffee, soda, wine, beer, and cocktails in appropriate glasses
  • Open and serve wine and beer, stock bar with wine, beer, liquor, mixers and garnishes, submit requests to Executive Chef regarding products to order
  • Accurately and professionally take food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS
  • Properly input to-go and take-out orders as well as employee meals
  • Verify prepared food matches POS orders and ensure special requests are fulfilled
  • Assist residents with menu selections and provide information on menu item preparation and ingredients
  • Ensure plates are presentable and serve food using trays and tray stands
  • Assure compliance with proper serving etiquette
  • Set up dining room tables and server stations with utensils, chinaware, glassware and condiments
  • Bus tables, clean dining areas, and maintain cleanliness of beverage stations
  • Cooperate with team members and be flexible with daily schedule
  • Assist in food inventory and wash kitchen dishes, pots, and pans as needed
  • Deliver meals to resident rooms as required
  • Respond professionally to resident concerns, demonstrate knowledge of each resident, and comply with federal and state regulations
  • Participate in daily huddles and maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Use universal precautions and report exposure to blood or body fluids
  • Communicate effectively and support a positive workplace environment
  • Attend in-services and maintain all required certifications and training
  • Work holidays, evenings, weekends and additional shifts as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Chef
  • Encourage teamwork and support community marketing efforts
  • Provide support to Assisted Living/Memory Care departments as needed.
