Job Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer six months experience working in food and beverage environment
  • Able to safely operate standard household equipment
  • Able to operate standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care
  • Able to work with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Able to process information and follow instructions
  • Able to analyze and respond to problems
  • Able to read, write, and speak English effectively
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Able to obtain and maintain valid Food Handler's certification
  • Good physical health and able to perform physical requirements
  • Must pass health screening including chest x-ray or intradermal test

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months experience in food and beverage environment preferred
  • Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care theory and practice
  • Ability to interact patiently with cognitively impaired individuals
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and highly motivated
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Food Handler's certification as needed
  • Physical ability to perform job duties and pass health screening including chest x-ray or intradermal test
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to adapt to change and prioritize tasks
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions

Job Duties

  • Serve meals to residents, family members and visitors in a professional, dignified, efficient and courteous manner
  • Bring, serve, prepare and refill beverages including water, coffee, soda, wine, beer, and cocktails in appropriate glasses
  • Open and serve wine and beer, stock bar with wine, beer, liquor, mixers and garnishes
  • Submit product order requests to Executive Chef
  • Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders into the POS system
  • Properly input to-go, take-out and employee meal orders
  • Verify food matches orders and accommodates special requests
  • Assist residents with menu selections and explain preparation, ingredients and cooking methods
  • Ensure plates are presentable and food is served properly using trays and stands
  • Follow proper serving etiquette such as serving from the left and clearing between courses
  • Set up dining tables and server stations with utensils, chinaware, glassware and condiments
  • Bus tables, clean tables and chairs, and maintain dining area cleanliness
  • Maintain and clean beverage stations
  • Keep work environment clean, sanitary and clutter-free
  • Cooperate with team and adapt to daily schedule changes
  • Assist in food inventory
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans and kitchen areas
  • Deliver meals to resident rooms as required
  • Respond to resident concerns professionally
  • Demonstrate knowledge of each resident as an individual
  • Comply with federal and state regulations
  • Participate in daily meetings
  • Maintain safe environment and report hazards
  • Follow infection control procedures
  • Use universal precautions for exposure to blood/body fluids
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, co-workers and supervisors
  • Support a positive work environment by adhering to company policies
  • Attend trainings and maintain certifications
  • Work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Chef
  • Encourage teamwork with co-workers and other departments
  • Support marketing efforts through positive interactions
  • Communicate observed resident condition changes to Assisted Living/Memory Care Department
