Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Current CPR certificate or obtain within 90 days of employment
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to make independent decisions in the best interest of residents and staff
  • Ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, personnel, and visitors
  • Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with personnel
  • Ability to handle confidential data with discretion
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
  • Physical ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Adequate sight and hearing senses or functional prosthetics
  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile individuals
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies over 50 pounds
  • Able to taste and smell food for quality assessments
  • Emotional stability and good general health to cope with job stress
  • Willingness to face exposure to infectious diseases including HIV and Hepatitis B viruses

Job Qualifications

  • Experience or interest in waitress responsibilities
  • Knowledge of dietary procedures
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

Job Duties

  • Serve residents, guests, and visitors food in the full-service restaurant-style dining room
  • Follow established departmental policies and procedures including dress code
  • Report concerns and complaints made by residents or their families to the Hostess
  • Participate in in-service education programs and meetings
  • Orient new employees to the facility and department policies
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Hostess
  • Maintain proper table and linen setups in the dining rooms
  • Prepare plates, salads, desserts, and beverages according to recipes and menus
  • Correctly serve therapeutic diets per menu extensions
  • Bus dishes and return them to the kitchen
  • Serve ice cream and alcoholic beverages daily
  • Prepare and clean popcorn according to sanitary standards
  • Assist with food preparation and service during special functions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
