Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- ability to assist patients with food selection according to diet orders
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to accurately document patient intake and fluid consumption
- ability to maintain cleanliness and safety in food handling areas
- basic organizational skills
- ability to attend departmental meetings and educational programs
- physical ability to deliver and collect trays and perform housekeeping tasks
- willingness to comply with health and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ability to follow department policies and procedures
- strong communication skills for patient interaction
- basic computer skills for documentation
- ability to work independently and in a team
- willingness to attend ongoing educational sessions
- experience in food service or healthcare setting preferred but not required
Job Duties
- assists patients with selection of food items from daily and alternate menus to fit diet order and preferences
- collects and reviews patient menus for accuracy
- delivers food trays and snacks to patients and picks up trays after meals
- records patient fluid intake and percentage of food consumed
- passes snacks and provides floor stock to unit pantries
- maintains unit kitchens, floor stock, and refrigerators including inventory, rotation, and light housekeeping
- documents refrigerator temperatures and ensures compliance with quality improvement standards
- manages information related to daily and hourly diet changes and communicates with dietitians and doctors
- tallies food preparation items including late additions and changes
- attends meetings and completes departmental education
- ensures a safe, clean, and sanitary environment following health and safety protocol
