Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Must pass California Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire and recertify every 3 years
  • Valid driver’s license essential
  • Must pass a functional capacity test prior to employment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely
  • Willingness to work flexible, variable hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must report to work on time and in uniform
  • Must join labor union upon hiring

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent education, training, and experience
  • Must obtain and maintain California Food Handler Certification
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Experience with cashiering especially in academic settings preferred
  • Proficiency in operating cash registers and Point of Sale systems
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and cashiering software
  • Ability to handle money accurately and follow procedures
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Operate the cash register to process payments including cash, meal plan cards, and electronic systems
  • Provide correct change and receipts to customers
  • Stay updated on meal period rates
  • Total and summarize funds with management to ensure accuracy
  • Verify cash drawer counts and deposits
  • Record customer counts and monitor sign-in sheets
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons
  • Maintain food safety certification and prepare food items as needed
  • Restock condiments and clean dining area supplies
  • Create menu and allergen signs when required
  • Follow health, sanitation, and safety regulations
  • Participate in training sessions
  • Perform special projects and assist as needed
