Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or related field
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years food service or dietary management experience
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety standards
  • Proficiency in record keeping and inventory management
  • Good interpersonal skills and leadership ability

Job Duties

  • Performs frequent audits of safety, sanitation, food quality, meal delivery at point of service
  • Encourages, educates and assists dietary employees in keeping a clean and sanitary workplace
  • Gathers feedback about food and service by interviewing guests and patients
  • obtains patient food preferences
  • Monitors that therapeutic and mechanically altered diets are prepared appropriately
  • Maintains weekly operating expenses and ensures financial goals are met
  • Maintain organized records and receipts
  • Check inventory and oversee that the weekly food order is placed by sous chef
  • Interview, hire and train new employees
  • Employee schedule with assistance from sous chef
  • Provide staff in-services and training
  • Request equipment maintenance
  • Cover dietary shifts as needed
  • Works with the Registered Dietitian (RD) to create menus and recipes
  • ensure menu extensions are followed
  • Assists RD in completing Section K of MDS and some minor clinical work as needed
  • Gathers information regarding patient's nutritional status to provide information to be used in care plan meetings
  • Communicates well with RD and other department managers
