Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, and follow oral/written instructions
  • Proficiency in using various types of kitchen equipment, including dishwasher, cleaning equipment, serving utensils, toasters
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and boxes
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Union registration with the 1199 Job Security Fund
  • Availability to work rotating shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Residence within commutable distance to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Queens

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Proficiency in using kitchen equipment including dishwasher, cleaning equipment, serving utensils, and toasters
  • Strong customer service skills with a passion for patient care
  • Previous experience in food service preferred
  • Food safety certification preferred
  • Background in the hotel, restaurant, or retail industry preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve meals to patients daily, ensuring dietary needs are met with care and attention
  • Perform a variety of routine tasks in the kitchen, cafeteria, tray line, and dishwashing areas
  • Follow standard practices and procedures to maintain efficiency, cleanliness, and safety
  • Build meaningful relationships with patients and their families by providing friendly conversation
  • Operate kitchen equipment including dishwashers, cleaning tools, and serving utensils
  • Comply with food safety regulations and hospital policies
  • Support a welcoming and compassionate environment in daily operations
