Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to read and write
  • one to two years experience as a cook in a large scale cooking operation preferred
  • must be able to work weekends
  • must pass Florida AHCA Clearinghouse background screening
  • compassionate and caring attitude
  • ability to follow recipes and food preparation guidelines
  • good communication skills
  • physical ability to perform kitchen duties

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operation
  • understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • prepare and serve nourishing and attractive meals according to menu and diet orders
  • review menus and production guides to determine food quantities
  • operate kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, fryers, ovens, steam tables, and slicers
  • wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits
  • test and observe food by tasting for palatability
  • follow standardized recipes and use nutritionally equivalent substitutes
  • add gravies, sauces, and garnishes as required
  • assist with special function meals
  • complete assigned work tasks
  • maintain food safety standards
  • uphold residents' rights and safety
  • participate in staff development activities
