Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and write
  • One to two years as cook in a large scale cooking operation preferred
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Experienced cook in healthcare facility preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to perform food preparation tasks
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Good communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and write required
  • One to two years of experience as a cook in a large scale cooking operation preferred
  • Experience in healthcare facility cooking preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work weekends and double shifts
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve nourishing and attractive meals and other foods according to diet orders and menus
  • Review menus, production, and prep guides to determine food types and quantities
  • Operate kitchen utensils and equipment such as blenders, mixers, fryers, slicers, steamers, food processors, ovens, steam tables, and tilt skillets
  • Wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits for preparation
  • Test and observe food by tasting for palatability
  • Slice portions of meat for individual servings
  • Follow standardized recipes
  • Add gravies, sauces, and garnishes as required
  • Prepare and assist with special function meals
  • Complete work assignments efficiently
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
