Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and write
  • One to two years of experience as cook in large scale cooking operation preferred
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Ability to operate kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and write
  • One to two years as cook in a large scale cooking operation preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience operating various kitchen equipment
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and menu plans
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Review menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared
  • Prepare all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner
  • Use nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required
  • Operate kitchen utensils and equipment such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table, and tilt skillet
  • Wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits
  • Test and observe food for palatability
  • Slice portions of meat for individual servings
  • Follow recipes and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes as required
  • Prepare and assist with special function meals
  • Complete work assignments
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation
  • Support meal service responsibilities
  • Perform administrative responsibilities related to kitchen operations
  • Participate in staff development and adhere to residents' rights and safety guidelines
