Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • ServSafe Certification required within six months of employment
  • Prior food production experience preferred
  • Ability to work full-time including weekend and holiday rotations
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow dietary guidelines and modify meals as necessary
  • Ability to document temperatures and take corrective actions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with dietary and clinical staff
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as stocking supplies and handling food deliveries

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
  • ServSafe Certification must be completed and obtained within six (6) months of employment
  • Prior food production experience preferred
  • Effective English communication in verbal and written format
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to learn and improve through ongoing training
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Delivers high-quality food production in a timely manner while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary work area
  • Prepares food according to diet extension recipes and food production sheets, modifying as needed for special diets (e.g., cardiac, diabetic, renal, soft)
  • Ensures food safety and sanitation by following infection control procedures, documenting temperatures, and taking corrective action when necessary
  • Follows proper food handling, cooling, labeling, storage, and rotation practices in compliance with health department and organizational standards
  • Monitors food appearance and quality prior to service and utilizes leftovers effectively by creating special or marketable products
  • Coordinates meal production to meet scheduled patient meal delivery times
  • Takes patient food orders via telephone and provides exceptional customer service to patients and customers
