Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
  • At least one year of experience in a similar position preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to follow oral, written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to function independently and make independent decisions when warranted
  • Ability to read recipes and menus
  • Organized and neat work habits
  • Genuine interest in geriatric work and willingness to serve residents and facility

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve residents' daily meals according to standardized recipes and menus
  • Suggest menu changes and alternate items to utilize leftovers and supplies
  • Taste and assess food quality and palatability
  • Maintain and record assigned temperatures daily
  • Direct and supervise dietary aides as appropriate
  • Ensure food is ready and served on time
  • Follow temperature regulations in food preparation, serving, and storage
