Job Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a dietary cook in a hospital or skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred but not necessary
  • high school diploma is preferred
  • stand/walk up to eight hours per day
  • ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • frequent kneeling, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching

Job Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a cook in a food service setting
  • experience preparing food for a minimum census of 20 people
  • knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
  • strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
  • experience with menu planning and catering is a plus
  • excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • culinary degree or certification is beneficial but not required
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Preparation of and cooking a variety of meals according to dietary guidelines and nutritional and safety standards
  • ensure presentation of all meals according to menu specifications as well as presentation standards
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food service areas while maintaining all inventory levels
  • adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • collaborate with the dietary team to create and update balanced meal plans that cater to specific health needs
  • assist in training new kitchen staff
  • sincere desire to work with residents while maintaining a courteous, empathetic, and professional attitude
