Job Requirements
- high school diploma or ged preferred
- two years experience in the food service industry preferred
- must have the required annual tuberculosis (tb) testing and annual health assessment
- must be aware of and apply the standards of sanitary food preparation
- must have the required references and criminal record check
- ability to communicate with residents and staff in english
- ability to read and write english
- ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted
- ability to visually observe residents and hear emergency systems and verbal needs
- ability to turn, stoop, bend and stretch to assist residents
- ability to stand for prolonged periods
- ability to use equipment competently
- ability to respond to emergencies such as resident choking and evacuation in case of fire

Job Duties
- assure that food preparation and sanitation practices and policies are followed in a safe environment
- assure that residents are prepared and served the diet prescribed by their physicians according to the menu of the day
- complete other duties as assigned by the director of dietary services
- communicate effectively with residents and staff in english
- use equipment competently such as slicer, grinder, mixer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, coffee maker
- respond to emergencies including resident choking and evacuation in case of fire
- assist residents by turning, stooping, bending, and stretching as needed
